State - Injury and Violence Data

Injuries often occur in predictable patterns, with known risk factors among distinct populations. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) tracks and analyzes injury-related data to look at trends over time and identify high-risk populations. This information can then be used to inform communities and policymakers. Also, it can be used to guide data-driven injury and violence prevention programs.

Available data includes:

  • Firearm injuries
  • Rates of the 10 common injury types
  • Non-fatal suicide attempts and ideation
  • Violent deaths
