Build a Supply Kit
After an emergency, you may need to survive on your own for several days. Being prepared means having your own food, water and other supplies to last for several days. A disaster supplies kit is a collection of basic items your household may need in the event of an emergency.
Make a Plan
Make a plan today! Your family may not be together if a disaster strikes, so know how you’ll contact one another and reconnect if separated. Establish a family meeting place that’s familiar and easy to find. Additional planning may be required for those in the family with medical conditions, disabilities, and your pets.
Volunteer for Recovery
Have you wanted to volunteer during community emergencies? The Michigan Volunteer Registry (MVR) is a statewide program where you can register to volunteer. The MVR informs individuals who are interested in volunteering in the event of a natural or public health emergency. By adding your name and information to the Michigan Volunteer Registry, you are indicating your willingness to volunteer your time and skills in an emergency. Registering places you under no obligation to volunteer.
