Area Agency on Aging Region IIIC Recognized for Helping Seniors Navigate Medicare and Medicaid Insurance

Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program (MMAP) recognized the work of Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Region IIIC MMAP team with the “Navigator Award - Most Worthy Mention” for work with Medicare recipients during the previous quarter.

The Navigator Award recognizes the MMAP team that served the highest percentage of the Medicare population in a quarter as measured by total client contacts. MMAP is Michigan’s free, unbiased resource to help navigate Medicare and Medicaid.

“I’m proud of our MMAP team’s absolute commitment to serving older adults who are looking for answers about their health insurance,” say Laura Sutter, Director of Area Agency on Aging Region IIIC. “Lisa Redmond, AAA(IIIC) MMAP Coordinator and our MMAP counselors have absorbed hours and hours of specialized training. Lisa works closely with our MMAP sites at the Burnside Center in Coldwater, and the Enrichment Centers in St. Joseph County. The team’s dedication and hard work is highlighted by this special recognition from our MMAP Office in Lansing.”

MMAP counselors help seniors identify the insurance products that best meet their needs and lifestyle. These insurance programs include Medicare C plan, also known as Medicare Advantage plan, Medicare Gap Coverage plans, Part D prescription drug plans and Medicaid applications for those who are eligible.
