Reported Manure Discharge into Fisher Creek

BHSJ has been notified by EGLE

Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency has been notified by the Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) of untreated manure that overflowed from a waste storage structure in Algansee Township. EGLE staff have been on site and have observed manure in Fisher Creek, 3-4 miles downstream, and at the water inlet of Marble Lake. Residents and visitors to the Marble Lake/Fisher Creek area are encouraged to avoid the Marble Lake water inlet area, as well as Fisher Creek in the area from east of S. Ray Quincy Road and north of Campbell Road.

“Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is in contact with EGLE staff. We advise residents to avoid the inlet area, keeping themselves, children, and pets out of the water if manure is observed,” says Rebecca Burns, Health Officer
