Accepting Appointments for Third Dose Vaccinations of Immunocompromised
Thursday August 26, 2021
Applies to individuals with a compromised immune system and that have completed vaccination using either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued an addendum to the standing order for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID) in regards to third dose vaccinations and individual eligibility. This addendum only applies to individuals with a compromised immune system and that have completed vaccination using either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine; those that received Johnson & Johnson are NOT currently included in the recommendations for those that should receive a third dose.
The following conditions would qualify an individual as a person with a “compromised immune system”:
-
Receiving active treatment for solid tumors
-
Receiving active treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, or myeloma
-
Receiving immunosuppressive medication for solid organ transplant
-
Less than 2 years post stem-cell transplant
-
With documented genetic disorders preventing an adequate immune response
-
With untreated or advanced HIV
-
Taking daily medications for immune disease
- High-dose corticosteroids (>20mg/d prednisone equivalent)
- Chemotherapy
- Suppressive biologics
-
With chronic renal disease
-
With asplenia
-
On dialysis
Third dose vaccination is not the same as “booster” dose vaccination. “Booster” dose vaccination has not yet begun. BHSJ will notify the community as soon as “booster” doses become available.
Third dose vaccine appointments can be scheduled starting Thursday August 26, 2021 on the scheduling page at our website.
