The number and rate of new HIV diagnoses in Michigan remained stable during this time period for the eigth consecutive trend report. There was an average of 762 new cases per year and an average rate of 7.9 cases per 100,000 population. Each year, there are more new diagnoses of HIV infection than deaths. As a result, the reported number of persons living with HIV in Michigan is increasing. MDHHS estimates that 18,650 persons were living with HIV infection in Michigan as of July 2018.
