BHSJ is responsible for assuring the provision of certain core clinical programs in the following areas: communicable disease control, immunization, sexually transmitted diseases, and vision and hearing screening.

BHSJ operates three public health clinics which offer communicable disease control services, immunizations, HIV/STD testing, hearing/vision screenings, and the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. These programs prevent disease and ensure adequate nutrition for moms and babies from pregnancy to childhood.

  • Reduce transmission of communicable disease
  • Provide protection against vaccine-preventable diseases
  • Improve health for women of childbearing age, pregnant women, and children
  • Reduce preventable illnesses, injuries, and deaths in children
