Health Education and Promotion
Health Education and Promotion is dedicated to supporting, and promoting, the agency’s departments and services through the use of print media, social media, community outreach events, community coalitions, and committees. Health Education and Promotion also provides educational services to community organizations and schools based on pertinent health-related topics. Educational topics and promotions include, but are not limited to:
- WIC
- Immunizations and Vaccine Hesitancy
- Infectious Diseases, including HIV/AIDS and STIs
- Environmental Health Services
- Breastfeeding
- Marijuana/Vaping Prevention for Youth
- School Health
- and much more.

*Presentations on selected health topics are offered to local schools and community groups free of charge. Presentations may include a pre and post-test for determining participant awareness and knowledge of the issues. The presentations can be tailored to meet the specific need of each group. Teachers or groups can review the curriculum and determine the appropriateness of the content for their audience.
Community Outreach
The outreach program helps to link individuals with appropriate services and increase general community awareness of the services offered by the Agency and other service organizations.
Outreach services include:
• Assistance with completing Medicaid/MIChild/Healthy Michigan Plan applications, as well as assistance in signing up for additional public assistance programs.
• Community health fairs and events.
