BHSJ Now Offering Booster Doses to All Those Ages 18 and Over

Monday November 22, 2021

Based on the new recommendation from the CDC

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is offering all manufacturer’s vaccine booster doses to all residents age 18 and older.

Those who received a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine as their primary vaccine with the second dose being at least 6 months ago are eligible for a booster dose. Those who are age 18 and over who received a single dose J&J (Janssen) vaccine as their primary vaccine, at least 2 months ago, should receive a booster dose.

“Michigan is again experiencing a surge in COVID cases. The current positivity rate is 26.9% in Branch County, 31% in Hillsdale County, and 27.3% in St. Joseph County. Our area hospitals continue to report the patients who are cared for in the Intensive Care Units are nearly always unvaccinated. There were 13 COVID related deaths in the area from November 10-17 with 2 in Branch County, 7 in Hillsdale County, and 4 in St. Joseph County. Vaccination continues to be our best protection strategy against severe COVID illness and death,” says Rebecca Burns, Health Officer.

Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have preference for the vaccine type that they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster.

In order to schedule your primary series or booster dose at one of our local offices, please go to www.bhsj.org/scheduling. If you do not have access to the internet or need assistance, please call Your Local Health Department office and press option 7.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is committed to promoting wellness, preventing disease, providing health care, and protecting the environment.
