Drive-Thru Community Testing Events for COVID-19

Thursday September 24, 2020

Tuesday, 2pm-5:30pm at Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency – Three Rivers Office

The Branch-Hillsdale-Community Health Agency (BHSJCHA) and the Michigan National Guard will be at the Three Rivers Health Department, 1110 Hill St, Three Rivers on Tuesday, September 29. Testing will be available to Michigan residents (with or without symptoms) on a first come, first served basis from 2pm-5:30pm. Individuals who wish to be tested should bring an ID. Minors can be tested if they are calm and with a parent. The State of Michigan is covering the cost of testing at this event. Insurance is not required and no insurance cards will be requested.

“With schools and businesses opened back up, it is important that we identify positive cases, move them into isolation and quarantine their close contacts to stop the spread of this disease,” states Health Officer Rebecca Burns. The BHSJ Community Health Agency encourages anyone with symptoms or anyone concerned they may have been exposed (been less than 6ft from someone positive for Covid-19 for 15 minutes or more) be tested. Anyone who has left their home for work or travel, etc. can also be tested. Nasopharyngeal tests will be administered to determine whether persons currently have Covid-19. Antibody testing will NOT be done at this event.

“We will see increasing case numbers as we go out and interact with others. It is important to remain vigilant, and continue to exercise caution by washing hands regularly, wearing masks in public places, and maintaining social distance, especially in groups. If you are sick, please stay home and seek testing,” adds Burns. If you have a family member or close contact that has tested positive for Covid-19, it is important to stay home and follow the health department’s instructions on quarantine.
