COVID-19 Positive Employees at Center for Health & Wellness of Sturgis, PC

Wednesday June 24, 2020

Out of an abundance of caution, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency (BHSJCHA) and the Center for Health & Wellness of Sturgis, PC (CHW) are notifying anyone who sought care at CHW since June 15th to monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.

Four staff members at CHW have tested positive for the virus. Any patients who had close contact with a staff memberat CHW and either the patient or staff memberwere not wearing a mask are further asked to self-quarantine for 14 days.

“Wearing a mask is the best thing that everyone can do, even when seeing a medical provider, to minimize transmission of COVID-19,” states Rebecca Burns, Health Officer. “A mask helps to stop droplets that contain the virus from circulating in the air where someone with symptoms has been.”

BHSJCHA is asking anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to get tested and to self-isolate to prevent exposing others.

Individuals that have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 need to self-quarantine for 14 days and monitor themselves for fever, cough, and shortness of breath. COVID-19 symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus. Major symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath.

If you are getting together with others in groups, it is much safer to limit the group size to 10 with only 2 households than getting together with large groups from many households .People who are concerned that they may have COVID-19 should contact their healthcare provider and call ahead before visiting any healthcare facility. Everyone in Michigan can now get tested.
