Public Health Dental Clinics
(A partnership for good dental
health)
When people have access to
consistent dental care, their overall health,
wellbeing and confidence are greatly improved,
as are their ability to secure employment, learn in
school, and contribute to society. Michigan has
more than a million residents with annual incomes
below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. The
majority of these folks do not have dental insurance
or are on Medicaid, and have poor access to dental
care.
In an effort to provide dental
care to our citizens in Branch, Hillsdale and St.
Joseph Counties, the Community Health Agency has
formed a partnership with
Michigan Community Dental Clinics, Incorporated (MCDC).
MCDC is a non-profit organization who operated
numerous dental clinics across Michigan in
partnership with local health departments such as
ours.
In January 2008, the
Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency
in partnership with MCDC opened the first Public
Health dental clinic our tri-county region to serve
Medicaid, under-insured and uninsured clients.
