antibodies that help protect the baby from
illness with decreased likelihood of
allergies and dental caries.

slightly higher on IQ tests, especially
those born prematurely.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph
Community Health Agency offers:
breastfeeding consultations by a registered
nurse who is specially trained as a
lactation educator. The nurse can answer
questions about breastfeeding, offer
suggestions on breastfeeding techniques and
address problems that might arise
Free breast pumps if
Referrals to breastfeeding
support groups in the local community.
Offers breastfeeding articles and has a
special section of articles and videos by
well-known pediatrician Dr. Jack Newman.
Videos are excellent helps for breastfeeding
including clips for latching on and other
common breastfeeding problems
